Programme Overview

  • An inter-professional pathway for MBBS, BBiomedSc, BChinMedBNursBPharm and BSc(Bioinformatics) students of HKU

  • A broadly based training programme on contemporary health care issues

  • Learning with students from all over the world

  • A quotable qualification recognised by the Medical Council of Hong Kong for MBBS graduates

  • The award of an intercalated MPH degree will be conferred at the same time as the completion of the undergraduate programme

Eligibility

Entry to the Master of Public Health (MPH) is highly competitive. Students of the following programmes* may apply for admission to the MPH Intercalated Programme in:

  • MBBS Year 2

  • BBiomedSc Year 2 (from 2026-27 AY onwards)

  • BChinMed Year 4

  • BNurs Year 4

  • BPharm Year 3

  • BSc(Bioinformatics) Year 2

Students are expected to attain a yearly GPA of 3.4 or above, if applicable, for consideration of admission.

* Students taking MBBS/BNurs/BPharm as a second degree will be considered on an individual basis.

Fees and Scholarships

HK$115,605 (50% MPH programme fee discount)

Application

Online application commences in early November every year. Application Deadlines (September 2026 intake):

  • MBBS: 31 December 2025

  • BChinMed/BNurs/BPharm/BSc(Bioinformatics): 30 June 2026

Concentration

Academic Accreditation

The Medical Council of Hong Kong recognises the Master of Public Health, MPH(HK) as a quotable qualification. 

Participants will be accredited Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points from different academic institutes / committees. Please see “CME & Quotable Qualification” for details.
