Student Voice - Wong On Yin Grace

With the roles of Registered Nurse and Certified Sexuality Educator, my first-hand experience working in the front lines in both the public and private sectors of Hong Kong clearly shows how health is affected by the social and environmental determinants. It is due to my passion in conducting research on how to promote health equity, which makes it possible for the disadvantaged groups to receive proper health education and healthcare access that I decided to enroll for the MPH course at HKU.

Born in a grassroots family, receiving this prestigious Fellowship (FTSS) is a very rewarding and life-changing experience for me. It has relieved me of the economic burden so that I could focus on my academic studies. My most cherished aspect of the MPH so far is the intensive training on how to apply clinical knowledge to health promotion at the community level and constructive discussions with other students from different healthcare backgrounds.

After completing the MPH course, I look forward to bridging the gap between frontline clinical nursing and community health development. I will develop inclusive and preventive health programs that can improve people's well-being and help marginalized individuals.
